Certified Reference Materials: Uses and Abuses followed by CRM production facility tour and social dinner (Melbourne, Victoria).

Tour ORE's facilities and see how a leading global producer prepares and certifies reference materials. Following the tour, a 1.5 hour presentation will case study uses and abuses of CRM's in the mining industry. You will also learn how to select the right CRM for the job and how to assess the quality of CRM's. We will discuss why homogeneity is important and how neutron activation analysis can be used to quantify gold homogeneity. There are many statistical properties contained in CRM Certificates of Analysis. We will explain these and their relevance to the geologist and how they are used in QAQC applications. Itinerary:

1:45pm: Arrive at Ore Research & Exploration production facility
2:00pm - 6:00pm: Information session and facility tour
