SEG 2017 Conference: September 17–20, 2017
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we invite you to submit an abstract for presentation at the SEG 2017 Conference, Ore Deposits of Asia: China and Beyond, September 17–20, in Beijing, China. The conference is jointly hosted by the Society of Economic Geologists (SEG) and the China University of Geosciences, Beijing (CUGB).
The focus of the conference will be on recent developments in our understanding of the evolution of eastern Asia and the formation of its many world-class mineral deposits. Themes are listed below. All submissions related to economic geology will be considered, however, with those not related to ore deposits in Asia as possible additions to the poster presentation category.
The conference will feature Invited Keynote Speakers, Invited Speakers, and theme-based sessions drawn from submitted abstracts on a variety of deposit styles and environments. The three days of technical talks will be supplemented by related poster sessions, with dedicated time in the technical program.
We look forward to receiving your abstract and meeting with you in Beijing in September 2017.

All abstracts will be reviewed by the Technical Committee, with decisions based on relevance and content. Contributors are limited to presenting two abstracts per person for the program (one for oral sessions and one for posters). Abstracts may be submitted by other contributors on the research/investigation/work team (that is, contributors other than the presenting researcher). If accepted, your abstract will be published online as part of the SEG 2017 Conference Proceedings, which will be provided to conference attendees and may also be made available for subsequent sale by SEG. Notice of preliminary acceptance will be sent by May 15, 2017. Final abstract acceptance will not occur until the presenting author registers for the conference.
At the time of submission, presenters are asked to agree to copyright release and to acknowledge that they understand that, if the abstract is accepted, the presenting author must register for the conference.
Accepted presenters are encouraged to provide PDFs of their presentations in advance for publication in the digital conference proceedings. SEG recognizes that some changes may occur after the deadline and that the published record in those cases will differ from the final presentation version.
Accepted presenters are encouraged to provide PDFs of their presentations in advance for publication in the digital conference proceedings. Poster presentations will be displayed for the full period of the conference, and can be put up starting midday on the first day of student events. Authors must attend their poster during all dedicated poster-viewing sessions to discuss the poster with other attendees. Please print and bring the poster with you to the conference. A PDF of your poster will also be required. SEG will provide upload instructions to all authors of accepted posters.
SEG student members whose abstracts are accepted may be eligible for financial support to attend the conference and will be notified. Funding is to be used for travel and accommodations. Financial assistance will be at the discretion of the SEG 2017 Organizing Committee and is subject to available funds. To receive funds after being notified of eligibility, students must register by July 31, 2017.
Presenting authors must register to attend the SEG 2017 Conference by July 31, 2017, to ensure inclusion in digital conference proceedings. If you are not registered by this deadline, the abstract may not be included in the final program. This deadline coincides with early bird registration rates.
All submitted abstracts will be reviewed for relevance and content. Notification of abstract acceptance or rejection will be sent by May 15, 2017. Only the corresponding author will receive an e-mail concerning the abstract and is responsible for informing all co-authors of the status of the abstract.
Submission of an abstract acknowledges the author's consent to the following:
This policy is intended to support the broadest number of contributors to participate in the conference program. Any contributor who is submitting an abstract must be a member of the research/investigation/work team. Contributors are limited to presenting two abstracts per person for the program (one for oral sessions and one for posters). Abstracts may be submitted by other contributors on the research/investigation/work team (that is, other than the presenting researcher).
There is no limit to the number of times that a researcher's name may appear as a member of a team of investigators on abstracts submitted to the conference. In cases where a researcher is involved in more than two abstracts or studies submitted for the conference program, that researcher may be listed as the presenter only twice (one for an oral session and one for a poster).
Exceptions to this policy may be considered on a case-by-case basis where in the opinion of the conference Technical Committee, such an exception may enhance the conference program and/or knowledge exchange. All decisions of the conference Technical Committee are final.
